1. Eat Earlier
Aim to eat your meals while the sun is up esp. during the summer. During the evening/while you sleep your body detoxes and regenrates. If you eat too close to bed time you are intefering with these two critical body functions.
2. Improve your sleep
Quality, Quantity,+Consistency. Aim for a consistent bed time and wake time. Use black out shades on your windows or a cheap DIY is tape trash bags on your windows.
3. Reduce Stress
It is not always easy to reduce stress, and if you think about it too much, that can unfortunately make you all the more stressed. So I would suggest these two simple changes to your daily routine - listen to reggae music when you need to calm down. Don’t eat while you’re working. Yes I love being efficient, but given that our cortisol levels are generally elevated when we’re working, if we eat while our body is stressed this food will not turn to fuel our bodies it will be more likely deposited as fat around our waist! So step away from your computer and go eat lunch outside.
4. Lower sugar intake
A high sugar diet fuels more cravings, midday crashes, and rollercoaster emotions. A simple approach is to just eat sugar from fruit - real whole fruits. The sugar in fruit is a much better option because it also has fiber in it, that helps your body digest the sugar in a more manageable way to avoid crashes. If you’re hoooked on the daily sugar in your coffee, honey on your yogurt/granola/cereal…then try to start reducing the amt you add and wean yourself off.
